Dari and Pashto are Afghanistan’s two official languages, spoken by the great majority of the population — but they are far from the only ones. Dozens of other languages are spoken across the country’s mountains and valleys, each carrying its own history and identity. These languages are closely bound up with ethnicity — each people group’s mother tongue is a core part of who they are.
As one of the core aims of our Bible Society, we take Scripture Engagement seriously. How much people read their Bibles has historically been hard to gauge, but in the case of online media, we carefully measure this.
