From the first printed Dari and Pashto Scriptures to a growing family of Scriptures in the languages of Afghanistan.Whilst the story of the Bible in the region begins with Middle Persian in the 5th century, it took until 1815 before a Farsi New Testament became available for Persian speakers in Iran, and it was only in 1818 that a Pashto New Testament was printed for readers in what would later become Pakistan.Until 1982, the Afghan peoples remained dependent on texts produced across their borders. Related languages, close neighbours and near cultures, but not yet anything an Afghan could call their own.
